Predaturf
Description
PREDATURF artificial surface is a safe, realistic alternative to natural turf. Being free-draining, it provides a relatively dry and completely mud free training surface which will remain relatively consistent, level and firm with maximum resistance to rutting and diverting.
Application
PREDATURF allows players to safely engage in all aspects of indoor rugby training including: scrummaging, running and tackling arenas and for smaller partially weatherproofed area (lean-to building or similar) designated for rugby scrummage training.
How the material works
PREDATURF consists of a random dispersion of polypropylene fibers which are blended throughout controlled quantities of sand. The fibers are stabilised against ultraviolet degradation by sunlight, resistant to water, rot-proofed and substantially inert. The sand is a classified sports quality silica, washed and graded. The fibers act to stabilise the individual sand particles, resulting in a dramatic increase in cohesion and resistance to deformation.
Maintenance
PREDATURF is very durable and requires little attention. It should be maintained in a slightly damp condition and covered by a tarpaulin (or similar) if it is to remain unused or unwatered for long periods of time (especially in hot weather). Failure to keep the material damp will result in uneven dispersion of fibers and loss of surface efficiency.

Small areas (such as those used specifically for rugby scrummage training) may be lightly sprinkled with water by hand. Larger areas are best served by a custom designed underground irrigation system.

Reasonable care should be taken to keep the surface free from "tracked in" soil and mud. The surface can be easily levelled by light raking.
